design thinking for social innovations

Design Thinking is a relatively new approach being used to tackle complex problems. It incorporates constituent insights in depth as well as rapid prototyping aimed at getting beyond the assumptions that block effective solutions. Design Thinking is appropriate for social innovations because it is inherently optimistic, constructive, and experiential, while at the same time, it addresses both the needs of the people who will be the receivers of the social innovation and the infrastructure that enables it. This module will provide participants with the tools necessary to design the preferred future they have envisioned in the Scenario Planning module thus building on the first module.

This module will be delivered by the Hasso Plattner Institute, who are the leaders in Europe and internationally, in design thinking.
